PEARS IN PORT SYRUP
Brenda Litzke
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Cups Port
2 Cups Boiling Water
8 to 10 firm pears, peeled, cored and halved
Combine water and sugar, stir until dissolved.
Add port and bring to a boil.
Turn down heat and let it simmer until syrup starts reducing.
Add pears and poach for about 10 minutes.
Remove from syrup and put in sterilised, warm jars.
Top with the boiling syrup and seal jars.
I waterbath the filled jars for 15 minutes so that it can stay on the shelf for a longer time than usual because I make lots 🙂
(Recipe can be doubled or tripled as you see fit)
